Fall Update

Well, with the blink of an eye, we've gone from soaking in the summer warmth, to the changing of leaves and crisp mornings here in Maine! But the fall is certainly a stunning time of year here on the seacoast, so try to take the opportunity to get out and enjoy the myriad of seasonal activities and sights over the next month or so. Peak foliage usually occurs in Southern Maine around Columbus Day weekend- enjoy!

Maine is known for its fall fairs and festivals, and York's Harvestfest, taking place October 17-19, is one of the best around! Click for a schedule of events. The weekends here in York and the surrounding towns are always filled with local craft fairs, bake sales and yard sales too. Or try apple or pumpkin picking at one of the local orchards. My boys and I picked 25 pounds of apples at Spiller Farm in Wells yesterday....apple crisp is cooking now- yum!

For all you sports fans out there, fall is a great time to cheer on your local high school football, soccer or field hockey teams...Click the link for a local schedule of York High School's sporting events. Go Wildcats!

What's the latest on York's real estate activity? Well, the erratic economic news has certainly had an effect, but since interest rates are still low, inventory is high, and many sellers are very motivated, if you're considering buying, now is the time! And for sellers, patience, and more patience is certainly a requirement. Pricing is critical, so pay attention to your competition and listen to your Realtor. Avoid "chasing the market," by starting out with an asking price too high then getting stuck lowering it after the critical first 30 days has passed. This first 30 days is important to capture buyers and inform other Realtors about your "new" listing.
